Job Sumamary:

We are seeking a full-time and passionate Elementary School Teacher (EST) to join our diverse and devoted team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for students assigned to First Grade. The EST will help create, build and follow the curriculum, Mission and Pillars of NikolaTesla InternationalSchool (NTIS), producing and implementing engaging lessons plans, and fostering a positive, motivated and safe learning environment.

Reporting Structure:

The First Grade Elementary School Teacher will report directly to the Principal.

Salary:

NTIS offers a competitive annual salary relative to the role, certifications, and experience.

Responsibilities:

Prepare lesson plans (annual/monthly/weekly/daily)
Instruct, assist, and motivate students
Develop and implement grade appropriate course work/curriculum, activities, and assessments
Evaluate and monitor student’s performance
Assess and document students’ progress
Create and implement individual education plans for specific students as applicable
Resolve classroom issues and conflicts
Implement special programs and events for students
Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment
Arrange and supervise educational field trips
Supervise teaching assistant(s)
Create and instruct international curriculum
Participate in professional development opportunities
Collaborate with the Principal, teacher(s), parents, and/or committees to plan and implement school-wide initiatives
Provide substitutional support as needed
Perform additional tasks, duties, and projects that are delegated from the Principal
May be required to perform the tasks mentioned above for either a single grade level or a multi-grade level classroom

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education or related field
Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or willingness to obtain prior to the start of the 2026-2027 school year
Basic Life Support certification (BLS) or willingness to obtain prior to position start date
2+ years of relatable experience
Speak fluent and proper English
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Basic-intermediate MS Office experience (Word, Excel, email etc.)
Ability to create engaging lesson plans and adapt to changing needs
Commitment to academic excellence and character development
Reside within a reasonable commuting distance to the school
Committed to taking on additional responsibilities within the school to contribute to its growth and success

Highly Preferred:

Master's Degree in Elementary Education or related field
Speak fluent and proper Serbian
Willing to take a year-round position which will include summer program roles
